Rules of Accreditation

The ChAD is responsible for developing a Compulsory Professional Development program that is based on the accreditation of high-quality training activities. All accredited activities must therefore:

aim to increase ChAD members’ expertise in the field of damage insurance and claims adjustment;
• further the competence and professionalism of the ChAD’s members;
• further the advisory role that the ChAD’s members play vis-a-vis their clients, while respecting the legislation and regulations governing them;
• include a learning structure (have pedagogical value);
• qualify for accreditation and be transferable to the workplace.

 

The ChAD recognizes activities that last a minimum of one hour. No fractional PDUs may be granted. If the case arises, fractions of PDUs are rounded up. Meal breaks are not counted in calculating the length of an activity.

 

PDUs are granted for training activities offered at:

• a convention
• a symposium (workshops or classroom courses) 

• a seminar
• a conventional training session
• distance or on-line training


The ChAD neither recognizes nor grants PDUs for:

• training activities designed to promote a damage insurance product;
• an activity that encourages representatives to sell a specific product;
• attending a cocktail party;
• attending or participating in a study or interest group;
• attending a meeting or watching a film;
• reading

• Writing and publishing articles or books.

 

Distance or on-line training

Please note that in order to be granted accreditation, distance or on-line training must include a summative evaluation and a final mark. The passing grade for members is 60%. The method of evaluation as well as the name of an experienced trainer must be described in the documentation that accompanies the application for accreditation. An activity’s accreditation remains valid for two (2) years.

 

Further Requirements

• all applications for accreditation must be submitted at least 30 days before the training activity is held.
• all changes to an accredited activity must be submitted in the form of a new application for accreditation. 
• the ChAD must receive payment of the required fees at the same time as the application for accreditation .
• a supplier who receives a request from the ChAD for additional information on accreditation or the renewal of a training activity must respond to this request within 10 days.
• all publications or advertising concerning accredited activities must bear the ChAD’s logo and indicate the number of PDUs as well as the category of study

• any replacement or addition of a new trainer must be notified to the ChAD.
