Professional education (AEC & DEC)

According to a survey of managers working both in the personal lines and in the commercial lines insurance, a majority of employers prefer candidates who have a speciality professional education in damage insurance (AEC or DEC).

A collegial studies diploma (DEC) in Insurance and Financial Services Consultancy, which takes three years to complete, comprises general educational development, a professional education in damage insurance, in personal lines insurance, and in financial services.

An Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) in Damage Insurance, which takes approximately one year to complete (depending on the institutions), comprises a series of courses directly related to damage insurance professions. Since an AEC can begin at any time of the year, one must contact the chosen institution to find out about the dates of the coming sessions and the admission requirements.
